Water The Elixir Of Life (Essay Sample)

Water is the elixir of life for many numerous of amazing things it has been used and can be used to. According to the science, a great portion of our planet is consist of water and it is about 75% of it. Also, with reflection to our human body it is estimated made up of water at 50 to 65 percent. As it is being pointed, water holds an important ingredients on making up life.

In the study of our history, after the early man roams around the world they finally decided to make a settlement. This settlements turned into great communities, which gave birth to the rising names of our history like Mesopotamia, China, India, Egypt and others, whom have a common factor and it is water. This historic nations wouldn’t exist in the names of our history, if they haven’t realize the importance of water. They established farming methods with the use of rivers and natural bodies of water residing near them. They also learn how to catch fish in great seas, then learn how to build raft and ships to travel on waves. The water have given them so much advantage that they grow in nearly all aspect, from providing source of food and water, giving them wide opportunity to travel and make trade. Next amazing deal after learning that water is part of our basic needs, humans have maximized its potential by  further studying the capabilities water can do us. One of the thing they understand, water is considered to be the universal solvent in terms of solutions.  This concept was understood when the field of chemistry was pursued by humans. Now, water is being used on various way as a solvent. When we drink coffee or juice, a part of it is water while some chemicals or compounds is used to add flavouring and colour unto it. In the same field of studies, it is found out that water is the second most common molecule in the universe, which explain why water is important in life.  Also, in a healthy person water is suggested to be taken about three gallons or roughly a 48 cups each day in order to intoxicate and hydrate our body. But, while it is common knowledge to have about 8 glasses of water a day, water comes in various form that nearly every food or water we take provides water to the body.

But there is something we also need to understand about the water we use. Although it is true that water makes up a big portion of the earth, in an estimated 1.5 billion cubic kilometres of water only three tenths of this percent can only be used which comes from groundwater aquifers, rivers and freshwater lakes. In a certain perspective, world’s water is about 97% salty or water on oceans and sea and about 2.1% are locked up in polar ice walls or ice caps, which the remaining of 1% is only the fresh water. Due to rapid changes that our surrounding implies, nature have taken so much damage that our water reservoir are being contaminated. This also includes the improper way on how we use the water. According to a study, about 200 litres of water is being used when a person take a five-minute shows, also when you flush a toilet it uses an 8 litres of water which same when you brush your teeth. What I am pointing, while it is important that we have proper hygiene as a human being we should also consider ways on how can we help on preserving the nature. It’s about time we recognize the amazing gifts of water to us, not just take it for granted because water is the elixir of life.
