Transportation and communication are two significant infrastructural requirements in our society. Both of them facilitate movement of goods and services.  Transport facilitates movement of goods from one place to the other. Transport also facilitates movement of people from one place to the other for various reasons, mostly to seek for various services. While communication keeps us updated on the world events and trends. Both transport and communication play a vital role in our lives because they bring positive changes in our lives enhancing our economic conditions. Just like other resources, transportation and communication lay the foundation for growth in all sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, and commerce.

Transport systems are essential for human growth. Economic growth, transport, and communication go hand in hand because they all contribute to economic growth. People need transport to move from places to conduct business; people need devices to pass messages, be it by telephone, or fax or via satellite or using modern technology like mobile phones.    Communication enables people to make quick business decision promoting trade among different people, resulting to an improved economy. Transport infrastructure like roads, railroads, waterways, pipelines bus stations, and seaports are used largely to ferry passengers and cargo.

On the other hand, information communication technology is among the modern tools of communication that have significantly improved the economy in several ways.   Isolated regions have been connected and are accessible through modern means of communication like satellites.  Many places cannot develop without proper transport and communication systems, infrastructure like rail, road, airways, postal services like telegram and internet services all facilitate movement of services and resources needed to increase trade between people.

Mobility is important in production; therefore, improved transport and communication system can increase mobility as they easily facilitate movement of raw materials, fuel, and machinery at the required time that facilitate production of goods or offer necessary services. With modern forms of transport and communication systems, goods and services are readily available. Hence, prices are stabilized throughout the region. Due to the quick supply of raw materials, goods can be cheaply produced at a lower cost encouraging more purchases. By extensively selling goods in many geographical areas,   many countries can generate more profit than before.

Both transport and communication offer valuable means of enhancing the economy, communication is critical because of many reasons, be it for business or for security purposes because it offers real time information to help business people make timely decisions on financial matters. Using modern means of communication business people can be aware of the market prices and have a wide range of information to help them plan in order to meet the market demands.

Similarly, means of transport also play vital roles in development within a region, transportation systems act as the link between producer, suppliers, and consumers. Using appropriate means of transport trade relationships among countries are enhanced. Transport systems are the strongest pillar in protecting people when faced with difficulties. Modern transport and communication system facilitate movement of not only soldiers but also provides timely information to rescue people during natural calamities.  With modern technology, communication, and transport system have made life to be convenient as people can easily be in different places and chat anywhere at any time.   Many people can keep in touch with their loved ones thanks to modern forms of communication like the internet that is available across the globe. Not only does modern transport and communication system save resources, but they also save lives. It is the fact that transport and communication occupies an important place in both economic and social development of a country.
