Volleyball is a squad sport in which two squads of six players are divided by a net. Each squad attempts to score points by grounding a ball on the other squad’s court under coordinated rules. Since 1964 volley ball has been a component of the formal program of the summer Olympic Games. The entire rules are large but simply the play advances as follows: a player on one of the squad starts a rally by releasing and hitting the ball with a hand, from beyond the border line of the court, above the net and into the receiving squad court.  The receiving squad must not allow the ball be grounded inside their court. The squad may touch the ball up to three times but solo players may not tap the ball one after another. This essay strives to describe volley the nature of the volleyball game and its purpose.

The origin of volley ball is traced back on February 9, 1895 when a YMCA physical education manager known as William Morgan developed a new game in Massachusetts (USA). This new game was called Mintonette as game to be played (ideally) indoors with any count of squad mates. The game borrowed some of the features from handball and tennis. Basket ball was another indoor sport that was growing up on the area having been developed just sixteen kilometers away in the city of Springfield Massachusetts, only four years previous. There are many types of competitive volleyball, such as beach volley ball, volleyball leagues, women’s volleyball, and men’s volleyball, with different rules; however it is crucial to observe that all these kinds have some usual qualities. All kinds of volleyball events are a group sport. As a group sport, they need proper coordination and proper communication with squad mates in order to achieve the aim get a win. Each group has little count of touches (commonly three) on the ball before it is grounded over the rival’s court. The common pattern of the touches begins with a work, then an overhead pass, and finally a spike shot. The aim of each group is to secure collaboration in order to get a point always until it comes to a time that they are leading against the opposing group and secure all the sets allocated. This places importance that since the court is a crowded and thick area it is a must to observe the spot of each squad mate in order to prevent mistakes such as striking each other either by ball or by hand which could lead to a deadly injury, ensure a good motion in the game by effectively defending and attacking and be able to boost the group work amongst them.
