My Interesting Dream (Essay Sample)

My interesting dream

Dreaming is a very wonderful thing. It is an extension of our reality, or rather, it is a whole new other type of reality. Dreams are manifestations of our consciousness that are always absorbing information as part of our souls. It is mostly composed of images that have an inert message to our personas. It is our subconscious that composes majority of our habits and way of life. Some dreams are so profound that they can be life changing. Other dreams depict epic stories and are always fun to recall. Here is mine.

I have a recurring dream that always starts with a central character exiting from a very old temple. The temple is so ancient but the people and the citizens around it was very devoted to keeping it clean and up to shape. The temple has very high pyramidal towers that are arranged like those of the cathedrals. It was decorated with luscious metals and some walls were made out of one huge slab of obsidian that has been polished and evenly spread to the outer granite walls.

After exiting the temple, the character would then oversee the surrounding environment and it is at this moment that the character’s perspective becomes my perspective, too. I would see that a very high flight of stairs at descending into a very ancient but highly advanced society. The temple was actually situated a top of a hill that overlooked the city. The flight of stairs and the entrance of the temple was perfectly aligned to the north, and from that perspective, the sea lies on the east, and the city’s ports were busy with ships and boats. The ships and boats were made purely out of wood but the wood looks like it was grown to be the proper shapes for each specialized parts. It was as if the wood was still alive, like a tree but some parts were polished and very smooth.

The western part of the horizon showed distant mountains and a river that flows through the center of the city. Some parts of the river were very wide and it was a very prominent mode of transportation for the population of that city as I could see many different boats and ships that transferred the people to the different channels and canals that branched out from the river. Nature’s design was very prominent in the way that people built their structures such as houses and business set-ups. Some structures had a central tree at the middle of the buildings. Some trees towered through the horizon as it was surrounded by the special buildings of the city.

The city’s architecture was very elegant. It tried to mimic nature’s patterns. The structures looked like they were made out of randomly picked objects, such as stone and wooden parts. Some slabs of stones were made out of very precious rocks while some were polished pieces of sandstone or granite. These seemingly randomly-picked objects were shaped to perfectly fit each other. It as if they were made to fit each other perfectly. The architecture of the city also had features of animals such as wolves, bears and eagles.

The central character, whose perspective was also my perspective within the dream, would descend the tall flight of stairs. Different trees and beautiful bushes were perfectly aligned at the sides of the long and wide flight of stairs. Organized fruit stalls were placed systematically along the long flight of stairs and vendors were actually monks who took any amount as payments for a piece of their fruits. The fruits that they sold there were grown at the vicinity of the temple and the central character would choose one from each stall. He took oranges, apples, bananas, grapes, dragon fruit and strawberries as he descended down the flight of stairs. At the bottom of the stairs were a diverging pathway. The pathways were each made of different rocks and diverged to the different parts of the city. Some were granite, the middle gold, and the two at both ends were obsidian. The two obsidian roads extended right to the landmarks that could be viewed from the temple exit which was the mountain and the sea.

This is a very cool dream for me because whenever I remember it, it gives me the feeling of having been to a very wonderful place. Whatever it means and it symbolizes, well, that’s a topic for another new essay. For now, keep dreaming!
