In urban areas, a busy street is frequented by humans, land vehicles, and animals all day long. Busy streets are usually observed in the center of the community where it shelters the most members of the population. The reason behind is that streets are usually the center of trade for most of the owners of an enterprise or institution. A street becomes busy during rush hours such as in the morning between 6 am and 8 pm and then in the afternoon or evening between 5 pm to 8 pm. The streets are then filled with students, workers, business owners, and logistics operators who are either coming or go to school while passing the street. Busy streets never vacate any passing individuals or groups because this is the main passageway to accomplish tasks on the day. This means that the community has an active business structure and public services to the local residents and visitors in the area.
There are characteristics that indicate a busy street. The presence of business institutions attracts consumers to visit the area for the purpose of engaging in a transaction. Examples are malls, groceries, restaurants, hotels, markets, salons, computer shops, sports complex, and gymnasium complexes to hold events. These business complexes are responsible for generating an income as well as establishing a continuous transaction with the consumers along the streets. The second characteristic is the installment of government institutions that attract the population to transact and apply for several government grants, job vacancies, and to seek an authorization to operate businesses. Government offices provide public services to offer programs and grants for the residents to apply for certain benefits that can improve their lifestyle (Koerner, 2012).
A busy street needs human participation because the street can transform into a thriving part of the community when it allows people to pass through the way. However, there are undesirable issues that are observed along the streets. The presence of both criminal and elements of the society is the most concerning issues that affect the safety and security of the local residents. The mission of criminal and terrorist elements is to promote terror to the community by dominating the streets with armed groups and firearms. Violent protesting is another undesirable issue that impacts the integrity of the streets. A mass demonstration of protesters can fill the whole streets with tens of thousands of individuals who want to call the attention of the public officials to address concerns that are significant to their welfare.
People who are passing through the busy street are advised to watch for their personal belongings as they can be at risk for being stolen. People inside the car while passing through a busy street always close their doors because there are offenders who can open their cars and take anything they want inside. Going to a busy street makes you feel hot due to the concentration of numerous people passing through the business. The breath of the crowd, as well as their body heat, affects the temperature of the street. Combustion from cars further impacts the quality of air in a busy street because as the car move, they release heavy amounts of fumes containing toxic chemicals that are harmful to health. In this case, people in the busy street can acquire different types of diseases that might cause them to get sick.
