Introduction
The mention of the word Christmas gives meaning to various beliefs, customs and traditions based on different cultures. The only common denominator is that regardless of one’s cultural practices, Christmas is meant to be celebrated in one way or another. Exchanging Christmas cards and gifts, is one way to celebrate Christmas. This is a common practice that has been advancing by the day; this is because factors like improving technology, fluctuating economy and ways of living among other aspects have brought a new meaning to the current Christmas.
My opinion is, take away everything but don’t touch Christmas. I have very high regards for Christmas and this may not be the case with everyone else for particular reasons. I solidly agree that as it is with most festivals, most people live their day anticipating for Christmas. I mean, what better way to relax after months of working tirelessly than celebrating Christmas? What comes in my mind when I hear Christmas is a festival filled with everything I need and the desire to get what have wanted over the months but couldn’t get for some reasons. Below are reasons why Christmas cannot come soon enough for me.
Family
It has been said before that family is everything. Honestly, I cannot think of a better way for celebrating Christmas than with my family. Singing Christmas carols and eating the huge meal with my family makes me happy and the season is about being happy. So among the things that I want for Christmas, my family comes first. The togetherness brings out the true essence of the festive season with a whole new meaning for happiness.
Upholding Christmas spirit
What makes Christmas what it is, is the fact that the routine practices are maintained year in year out. Christmas tree decoration is one way to go about it. With Christmas in mind, decorating the Christmas tree is something I would do always without getting tired. So this is not only what I would want but also a-must-do.
Exchanging Christmas gift
Exchanging of Christmas gifts comes with excitement. So now I get to own the most beautiful dress have been eyeing and sacrificially saving for. This is just an addition to what I expect my family to get me. The fact that Christmas only happens once in a year makes it an only one of a kind happening. Basically it should involve gestures that makes the whole festive season unique. This brings me to the next thing I want for Christmas. Personally, what I like most about Christmas is the idea of receiving and sending gifts from friends and relatives. To be specific what I like most about Christmas is the fact that sharing together with friends and family members.
Doing good
The thought of helping someone celebrate Christmas happily is a first-class gesture. It really feels good knowing that someone is contented because of your doing. Doing good entails buying gifts for those in need, say orphans; inviting the have not’s to celebrate Christmas with you; visiting the homes for the aged and distributing foods; giving out handouts, to mention a few. Being a part of what translates to doing good is something I would want for Christmas. Doing well to the less fortunate people in the society is one thing I like most about Christmas.
Conclusion
Christmas take different horizons depending on cultural beliefs and traditions. Regardless, your Christmas desires is directly in line with what makes your day ultimately. Therefore, what you want for Christmas does not really have to be quantified monetarily but can also be a measure of goodness for somebody else.
