Think Before You Leap
Think before you leap is an old proverb that means one should think carefully before acting. The same goes for look before you leap which literally means one should consider the consequences of their decisions they make in life. The proverb advises people who normally rash to make decisions in life and end up regretting. One should remember that humanity is by nature and a creature of instinct. In order for one to succeed in what they seek in life, one should plan very carefully before they tackle their work. At times one should be patient in order to plan and analyze what they opt to do and what they don’t need to do so that they avoid making careless decisions that will lead them to failure. This essay seeks to narrate the meaning of think before you leap and why is it significant in one’s life.
One has to earn their living someday in one way or the other. It is very important that one should make the right decision and choose whatever they will do best in their lives. Students should think carefully about the course one will learn and this must be according to personal will. For instance, if a student wants to study engineering but one studies law because the parents want then the student will not shine in this particular field because the decisions are not personal. What the student should do is to carefully consider the consequences of acting by studying what is not in one’s passion. Making friendship and even dating without looking at the character of a person is foolishness. One should enquire the previous life before making friends because rushing into another person’s life only to find that the person is unworthy then one is to blame.
No action is right especially one that is done is an angry manner. On should use wisdom to act because one who is angry stirs up disagreements and makes a lot of mistakes. One should use intelligence and patience before making the final decision. A man named Michael once lived in a small town and he reared this beautiful puppy which he called Lexy. Lexy grew up to be a brave and a faithful dog to his master. One day Michael drove out with his wife to a meeting and later for shopping. He had a little son whom he left under the care of Lexy. In the afternoon when they returned home, Lexy ran as usual to greet his master but Michael was surprised and shocked to see blood on lexy’s mouth. Scared for his child, he rushed to the cradle of his son only to the child missing. When he looked at the floor he saw blood and he figured that Lexy had killed his son and so he killed Lexy. A few minutes later he heard a child crying and he ran there only to find his son unhurt but close to a dead wild dog that Lexy had killed to protect the child of his master. Michael saw this and fell on his knees weeping and repenting for acting before thinking.
