Since time immemorial, humans have had the feeling to connect with its environment and people around him. Language has been used as the medium of communication. Language facilitates interaction whereby people use sounds or signs to convey their ideas.  The history of language dates back thousand years where people used various means to interact when exchanging goods. Language is key to humans because language eliminates misunderstanding since it is used as an instrument to transfer information among people.  Language is necessary because it is a means of nurturing relationships. It is an indispensable mode of communication because it creates ties, hence promoting social actions.

Many scholars describe language to be the core of humanity because of its an extraordinary means whereby humans can have a mutual understanding. Language is what makes us humans, without language, humans will not be different from other creators. According to Aristotle, humans are rational animals and what sets him apart from other animals is their ability to reason and interact with each other. We cannot measure human’s levels of reasoning if he does not share his ideas and thoughts, this can only be possible through language. Therefore language is necessary for man to be rational creatures, in their words language is what made civilization possible.

The only way to understand great minds of the past is to read the written document of the ancient scholars. Meaning that language is a means of forming and storing ideas that we can exchange them during human interaction. Language is naturally a social process because it connects people and helps them develop together. The need to communicate gave birth to different languages; language can be best described by the common proverb “necessity is the mother of invention.” with human adapting to its environment, the need for language and communication became evident. Communication has been necessary and vital to humans just like drinking water and eating which are all important for survival.

The social importance of language is seen when we want to convey our ideas to other people; this can also be done using gesture and signs. For example nodding of the head could mean yes. Unlike other forms of communication, language is important for social interaction because it engages most of our senses. Language is a social creation that sprung up because humans wanted a way to interact with other creators; language has developed because of the increasing need for civilization. It is obvious that language is a vital tool because it is not only a means of relaying our thoughts, but it helps in forging friendship, promotes cultural ties and economic relationship. Language is not just a vehicle used to express our sentiment; it represents our social identities. By the mere fact that we speak a common language shows social solidarity among those who speak the language.

In summary, language help maintain the feelings of cultural relationship. It is evident that language is related to how humans feel that is why Language promotes nationality, religion, and self-identity. Language is used at work, during worship, when playing. Language is also used by different people by the poor, the rich, civilized and no uncivilized individuals.  Language does not just reflect reality of life it creates ways in which our minds can understand the world. Language drive changes, society keep on evolving because of language, has allowed societies to be built based on the spirit of corporation because it involves the exchange of ideas.  Without language, people will not interact easily, and we would not form meaningful interaction with other people hence limiting development.
