My Values And Beliefs
I grew up under my parents care. Consistently, they told me that the beauty of life is experienced fully only by those who work hard. Well, as a kid, that did not sound vital. I had everything I required: good food, clothes, shoes, and a roof over my head, private school education, and healthcare. I was comfortable without even breaking a sweat. All I did was just ask. It never crossed my mind what my parents went through to make ends meet. I believed that was the situation to all kids. My parents were always calm, even if it was hard for them, at the end of the day they had to provide. Now, I am a young lady, soon getting done with my studies and starting a new life without my parents’ financial support. My parents’ words make more sense right now than back then. And yes, I am working hard.
Living in the 21st century is quite a challenge, thanks to the terrible economic situation. With the issue of gender equality yet to be completely resolved, it is even harder for women. Only those who stand out have a say in this world. Integrity is one of the core values that define me. Getting the best out of my honest work brings me sheer joy and satisfaction. Over the years I have earned respect among my peers and mentors because of what I stand for. I believe in showing good seeds in the good ground for abundant harvest.
At the age of 15, I made a very critical decision that made my life change for the better. I embraced courage and confidence. Standing in front of a multitude at a conference hall to deliver a speech is just like a walk in the park for me. Nowadays, I can approach anyone without any fear, and I can achieve anything I put my mind to. The early stages of my teenage life were a mess. I was shy, got picked on, bullied and harassed many times. All that while, I tried to fit in and get accepted by the cool girls in my school. I could do the impossible for them, even sneak in contraband just to please them. How naïve! Still, they never accepted me. This experience was indeed a wake-up call.
My life is such an open book. There is nothing I have to hide. I love talking about all my experiences, emotions, dreams and goals, especially to people younger than me. I have gone through a lot in life, and it is certain that I am neither the first nor the last to experience such. I believe that no matter one’s race or gender, everyone is equal and should be treated with uttermost respect and dignity. Observance of human rights is paramount to maintain a civilized society.
I have always believed in discipline and hard work like ingredients in the recipe to achieve my goals and aspirations. Having a positive attitude and drive undisputedly translate to success and prosperity. I can term these as my core competencies because many people deem it only capable of achieving success through shortcuts.
In as much I always strive to achieve the best, I equally understand that not everything planned turns out as expected. I, therefore, strive to maintain a positive attitude regardless of the outcome of my efforts. With regards to this, it is important to note that throughout life, there are ups and downs. I always seek to stay happy and contented whether I succeed or fail. The fear of failure has never been a stumbling block in the course of my life.
These beliefs and values have always been at the back of mind this far I have come through the course of my life. I wouldn’t say in any way whatsoever that I am a perfect being. People have different beliefs and values that form the pillar of their life. Abiding by them is what defines your personality.
